What Determines the Cost of Financial Advice
What you pay for advice tracks how much work your circumstances require, so no one figure applies to everybody. A recent graduate starting to save takes far less of our time than a business owner preparing a sale. These factors carry the most weight.
At the introductory meeting, before you commit to anything, we go over how our fees work. You will understand what you pay for and why.
- How involved your finances are
- A single paycheck and one workplace retirement plan need less planning than rental property, stock options, your own business and accounts spread over several firms.
- A single plan or continuing management
- Some people want a written financial plan to carry out themselves. Others want us to manage the portfolio and update the plan each year. Continuing work is priced differently from a one-time project.
- The assets we oversee
- Investment management fees are often linked to the size of the portfolio. Additional accounts and moving parts mean more monitoring, rebalancing and reporting.
- How much ground the plan covers
- Adding legacy planning, tax management or a life insurance review to a retirement plan broadens the work. We will tell you which parts need attention now and which can wait.
- Working with your other advisors
- If your plan involves your accountant or estate attorney, the coordination with them is part of our work, and we include it from the beginning.
Help Building, Guarding and Handing Down Wealth
We offer wealth management, financial advising, financial planning and investment management, plus retirement planning, legacy planning, tax management and life insurance consulting. Most people arrive with a single question, such as when they can stop working, and learn the answer reaches into three or four of these areas. We are Series 7 and Series 66 licensed and also hold the SIE license. That training means we can discuss securities and investment choices with you directly, within one connected plan rather than in scattered conversations.

Wealth Management
Ongoing management of your portfolio, retirement income, taxes and estate wishes, reviewed together so each decision supports the others.

Financial Advising
Straight answers on the money decisions in front of you, from a job offer to a windfall, so you can act with a plan instead of a guess.
Financial Planning
A written financial plan that connects your cash flow, savings, retirement, taxes and family goals, so big decisions are made ahead of time instead of under pressure.
Investment Management
Ongoing management of your portfolio, with each holding matched to a goal, a timeline and the amount of risk you can live with.
Retirement Planning
We map where your retirement paycheck will come from, when to claim Social Security and how to draw from accounts so taxes and timing work in your favor.
Legacy Planning
We check beneficiaries, account titles and gifting plans against your wishes, then work with your attorney so your wealth passes the way you intend.
Tax Management
Year-round planning on how your investments, withdrawals and gifts are taxed, coordinated with your CPA so fewer surprises show up at filing time.
Life Insurance Consulting
We review the policies you have, work out how much coverage your family or business actually needs, and explain term and permanent options without pressure.

A Financial Advisor Close to Home
Financial Advisor Atlantic Highlands works with people across the Bayshore who would rather plan early than scramble later. Some come to us in their thirties, sorting out how to save for children and retirement at the same time. Others arrive a few years before retiring, wanting to know whether their savings will last. Business owners often call when they start thinking about what happens to the company, and to their family, after they step back.
Whatever brings you in, the approach stays the same. We listen first, put the numbers in plain view and build a long-term plan you can actually follow. Our job is to help you feel prepared, so the next big decision feels like a step you saw coming.

The First Steps of Working Together
Getting started is easy and never rushed. This is what follows your first call.
- 1
A brief call
Share a bit about your situation and what you are thinking about. We will book an introductory meeting at our office, by phone or on video.
- 2
Your introductory meeting
We go over your goals, worries and timeline. You come away knowing how we would help and how our fees are set, with no commitment to continue.
- 3
Pulling the details together
If you choose to go forward, we gather statements, tax returns, insurance policies and any estate documents. Bring whatever you have, and we will help track down the rest.
- 4
A plan in writing
We take you through a written plan showing where you are now, where you want to be and the concrete steps to get there. Ask anything; nothing goes ahead until you are at ease with it.
- 5
Scheduled reviews
Your life shifts, and markets and tax rules do too. We revisit your plan on a fixed schedule and any time something major comes up, such as a job change, a wedding, an inheritance or an approaching retirement date.

What Clients Value About Planning With Us
Pressure rarely leads to sound money choices. Our work is arranged so you can face the big decisions with time to think and the figures laid out in front of you.
We plan years out, not weeks
Retirement dates, tuition bills, a business sale and required withdrawals can all be seen coming from far off. We lay them out early so each choice has time to pay off, and a shift in the markets or your life is already accounted for.
The reasons come with every recommendation
Each suggestion includes the reasoning, written in everyday English. When a strategy has downsides, we spell them out. Nobody should be steered into something they do not fully follow.
Many pieces, a single plan
Investments, taxes, insurance and estate wishes all influence one another. We review them side by side, so a portfolio change does not trigger a tax issue or open a hole in your family's protection.
Meetings on your schedule
Come to our office, or meet by phone or video if that works better. Many clients do both, visiting for the early meetings and checking in remotely later on.
Nothing to buy, no pressure
The introductory meeting is a conversation, not a pitch. If a second opinion or a simple plan is all you need, we will say so.
Questions Clients Ask Before Their First Meeting
What happens in the introductory meeting?
Mostly, we get to know you: what you're hoping for, what keeps you up at night, your timeline and a broad picture of your finances. We also explain how we work and how our fees are set up. Nothing has to be decided that day, and plenty of people take some time to think it over.
Do I need a certain amount of money to work with a financial advisor?
Not to begin talking with us. Planning early often pays off most while savings are still building, since good habits and the right account choices grow over time. During the introductory meeting we'll be honest about whether our services suit where you are today.
What should I bring?
For a first meeting, a rough sense of your income, savings, debts and goals is plenty. If you decide to continue, we'll ask for recent investment and retirement statements, tax returns, insurance policies and any wills or trusts. If some of it is scattered or missing, we'll help you gather it.
Is meeting by phone or video an option?
Absolutely. A good share of our clients handle part or all of their planning over a call or a video session. Some like sitting across the table for the first conversation, then switch to remote check-ins once the plan is in place. Pick whichever format keeps things comfortable for you.
How often will we review my plan?
Together we agree on a regular review schedule, and we also revisit the plan whenever your life shifts in a meaningful way. Retirement, a new child, selling a business or receiving an inheritance are all good reasons to talk sooner.
Do you prepare tax returns?
Our tax management work is about planning: where to hold investments, when to take withdrawals and how to time decisions so taxes take no more than they should. We're glad to coordinate with your accountant, who keeps handling the filing.
Will you push me to buy life insurance?
No. Our life insurance consulting begins with whether you need coverage at all, and if so, how much. Sometimes the right answer is to keep what you have or let a policy lapse. We lay out the options so you can decide clearly.
