Atlantic Highlands Life Insurance Consulting
Life insurance is often bought once and then forgotten. We go through the coverage you hold, figure out what your family or business would truly need, and help you fill any gaps without rushing, while your health is good and the choices are still open.

Coverage that fits with your whole plan
People miss the mark on life insurance both ways. Some hold only a small policy from a former employer that would pay a few months of bills. Others keep paying for costly coverage that no longer lines up with their goals. We start with the full picture, then help you choose what to keep, adjust or add.
Insurance is one piece of your financial plan for us, not a stand-alone sale. Before any policy is discussed, we review your income, debts, savings, retirement accounts and what you want to pass on. Working through it calmly now is much simpler than after a health scare or an abrupt change in your life.
Meet us at our office or talk by phone or video, whatever works with your calendar. People from Atlantic Highlands, Middletown, Red Bank and nearby towns often start with a short call to decide whether a longer conversation makes sense.
What our life insurance consulting covers
A review of the policies you already own
We read through your existing policies, including group coverage through work, and explain in plain words what each one pays, when, and what it costs to keep. Many people are surprised to learn their workplace coverage ends when they change jobs or retire.
A needs analysis built on real numbers
We add up what your family would need: income replacement, a mortgage balance, other debts, college costs and final expenses. Then we subtract the savings and assets already in place. The gap is the coverage worth discussing.
Term versus permanent, explained fairly
Term coverage is usually the simplest and lowest-cost way to protect a family during working years. Permanent coverage can make sense for some estate, business or long-term needs. We lay out the tradeoffs so you can see which fits your goals.
Beneficiary and ownership check
Outdated beneficiary forms are one of the most common problems we find. We confirm names, percentages and contingent beneficiaries, and flag where policy ownership could affect your legacy planning.
Coverage for business owners
If you own a business, we look at key person coverage and how insurance could fund a buy-sell agreement with partners, so the business and your family are both protected.
Coordination with your investments
Some permanent policies hold investment components. We are Series 7, Series 66 and SIE licensed, which helps us explain how those pieces fit alongside your portfolio and retirement accounts.

Signs it is time to review your coverage
- Your family has grown
- A new baby, a new marriage or a parent moving in changes how much support someone depends on. Coverage bought before that often falls short.
- You only have coverage through work
- Group policies are a good start but are often a set multiple of salary and rarely move with you. If you left or lost the job, the coverage may go with it.
- You bought a policy years ago and forgot about it
- Premiums, cash values and terms change over time. A policy that made sense a decade ago may be expiring soon or costing more than it should.
- You took on a larger mortgage or debt
- Bigger obligations mean your family would need more to stay on solid ground if your income stopped.
- You started or bought into a business
- Partners, lenders and employees all have a stake in what happens if an owner dies. That deserves its own plan.
How working with us goes
- 1
Introductory meeting
First we talk about your family, your work and what keeps you up at night. We also walk you through our fees and how our compensation works, so you know the arrangement before any advice is given.
- 2
Pull your paperwork together
Bring copies of your current policies, recent statements and any benefit summaries from your employer. If a document is missing, we can help you ask the insurer for it.
- 3
Analysis and written summary
We run the numbers and put what we find on paper: the coverage you have, the coverage you need and any gaps between them. If what you already own is enough, we tell you that plainly.
- 4
Decide at your own pace
We go over the options side by side and answer every question you have. Nothing moves ahead until you feel comfortable, and we check back on your coverage as your life and goals shift.
What moves premiums and the cost of our work
At the introductory meeting, before we recommend anything, we explain how we are paid. Insurers set the premiums, and a handful of factors matter most. Understanding them early lets you act before age or health limits your choices.
- Your age and health
- Age and medical underwriting drive most of the premium. Getting coverage while you are younger and in good health generally costs less over the years you hold it.
- Size and length of the coverage
- A bigger death benefit or a longer term means a higher premium. Matching coverage to a real need keeps you from paying for protection you will not use.
- Kind of policy
- For each dollar of benefit, term coverage usually costs much less than permanent coverage, which lasts for life and accumulates cash value.
- How involved your situation is
- Looking at a single workplace policy is quicker than sorting out several policies alongside business agreements and estate goals.
Questions about life insurance consulting
- What amount of life insurance is right for me?
- That depends on who relies on your income and what you have already saved. We total your debts, upcoming costs such as college and the income your family would need, then take away the assets you already have. What remains is a sensible place to start, not a formula.
- Is it smart to drop my old whole life policy?
- Only after a close review. Dropping it can forfeit cash value, create a tax bill or leave you without coverage that is hard to replace at your age. We go through the policy and lay out the tradeoffs before you make any decision.
- Does my employer coverage go far enough?
- Often it does not. Workplace coverage is typically a set multiple of your pay and tends to end when you leave. We check it against what you actually need and show what a personal policy would add.
- Is insurance the only topic you cover?
- No. Coverage works better when it fits with the rest of your money, so we frequently tie it to retirement planning, legacy planning and tax management. How far the conversation goes is up to you.
- Can we meet somewhere other than your office?
- Yes. Along with office visits, we meet by phone and video. Plenty of clients go over documents with us on video and stop by only if they choose to.

Find out where your coverage stands
A short conversation is often enough to see whether your family is protected or whether there is a gap worth fixing. We will listen first and explain what a review would involve.
